Carry it with you everywhere. It even fits on your keychain. And ... no cooties!

Can't live without a pitchpipe? I found one that's tiny, runs on a battery, and you don't have to blow into it. I just love it. It's called Farleys Pocket Tones: Chromatic-C and I got it from Amazon for about $11.00.

Do you need sheet music? Like, yesterday????

I found a marvelous site where you can download the music you need, instantly. The prices are surprisingly reasonable. I've used their services myself and can personally recommend them. It's mostly classical music, but it's worth checking out no matter what genre you're into - you never know what you might find.

Called VIRTUAL SHEET MUSIC - Classical Sheet Music Downloads, the site also has a forum for musicians.

To bring out the best singer in you, I recommend learning piano if you don't already play.

I'm not a whiz at the keyboard, but I couldn't live without knowing how to play, at least basically. I use piano for my vocalizing, and of course knowing piano is essential for sight-reading vocal scores. Anyone, at any age, can learn the piano. It's easier than learning a language! Piano Wizard, a division of Allegra Multimedia, is one way to get your chops up.

Carrying your sheet music or fake books to rehearsals and gigs doesn't have to be a hassle.

One way to streamline your music trail is to use a courier bag from Manhattan Portage. The bags come in different sizes and shapes. And they're giving away a free laptop bag if you buy more than $100.00 worth of stuff.

It's gig candyland, girls and boys.

Do you want special audio equipment to handle new effects you're weaving into your show? Have you decided to add special lighting? Did you leave your software in another state? You might want to check out Active Musician. What I like best about them, besides good prices, is that no matter how weird the thing is you need for your gig, chances are they will have it. Their inventory is huge. Lighting packages for stage or for special effects, black lights, novelty lights, strobe lights, and why yes, as long as you're asking, bubble machines, fog machines, and snow machines. They also have mundane things like instruments, sheet music, and all sorts of dj equipment. WANT.

Intermediate piano for the brave. I've studied what Rocket Piano has to offer, and I like it. It doesn't matter if you'll ever be a good pianist or not - a singer needs to be as good on another instrument (besides voice) as she or he can. Why? It rounds out your skills as a MUSICIAN. A singer must be a musician. A singer must be able to demonstrate to others in the band or ensemble what she or he is thinking, harmonically. Piano is the best way to communicate harmonic ideas.

Your piano teacher here is Ruth Searle, and she's good. Don't be offended by the "hard sell" marketing page - that's just what people are doing these days to try to survive. She's worth it.
